To The Day of Ukrainian Writing

The integrity of the language influences on everything

The vision is improved and the language becomes better,

The hearing becomes sharper and the thought is aimed,

As the ryes, waggled by the wind.

The love and respect to the native language can create the miracles and give birth to the holiday, awake the patriotic feelings and the respect to own culture in the hearts of young generation of Ukrainians. The first year students have once more proved it with their diligent preparation for solemnities on occasion of the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language that originates from 1997. This holiday is celebrated every year on 9, November on the day when the memory of Blessed Nestor the Chronicler is honored.

The celebration was organized by mutual efforts from the first year students of medical faculties No 1 and No 2 and members in International cultural center of University (head – I.P. Terpeliuk). The initiator of the event was the department of Ukrainian studies (head – professor A.B. Guliak) and division of humanitarian education and upbringing (head – O.S. Gorova), the teachers at department of Ukrainian studies assistant professor N.O. Shevel and teacher T.O. Shevel organized the holiday. This event was held under the slogan "Language – a space phenomenon" on 12, November, 2014 in the lecture hall No 1 in morphological building, having gathered the interested and active students.

The theatrical performance involved the viewing audience into the wonderful trip in time, getting acquainted with the formation and main stages in development of writing. Anton Nagovitsyn (medical faculty No 2, group 8) and Anastasiia Shevchenko (medical faculty No 2, group 7) were the hosts of the holiday. They together with the Guest (student of group 6 in medical faculty No 1 Kozynets Pavlo) due to the scenario visited the primitive society, Ancient East, Ancient Greece and Rome, emphasizing the main stages in formation of writing: from object writing and lithography to the native Cyrillic and Glagolitic alphabet. Encyclopedia (student of group 23 in medical faculty No 1 Ganna Lavrinenko) comes to help with the detailed information. The representatives of the time were Chief (Viktor Bogdan, medical faculty No 1, group 6), Egyptian, Sumer, Greek, Roman, Cyril and Methodius – first year students Rymarenko Andriy (medical faculty No 2, group 7), Khalilov Sarkhan (medical faculty No 1, group 24), Bondar Kostiantyn (medical faculty No 2, group 8), Golovashchenko Vladislav (medical faculty No 2, group 7), Serbin Bogdan and Mamedov Anar (medical faculty No 1, group 16).

The interesting and cognitive information alternated with the skilful declamation of poetry, singing and playing musical instruments by students from groups 7 and 8 in medical faculty No 2. Ukrainian folk song "Oh, in the cherry garden…" was performed by Nataliia Gordiyenko with musical accompaniment by guitar (Georgiy Teodoradze). Mariia Nykytiuk recited the poetry by Pavlo Fylypovych "There is no counting to words…" and the poetry of M. Vingranovskyy "At night, in the midst of the night, someone quietly came to my Word…" was performed by Iryna Bulakh and Maryna Mykhalchuk.

The representative from ICC – students-members in amateur art activities of University together with their musical heads impressed and captivated the present people with performance of lyrical song "I will go to the mountains far away…" and the masterly play by accordion and cymbals. Anna Melnychenko (medical faculty No 2 group 7), Inna Moskalets (medical faculty No 2 group 8) and Dana Zhupan (medical faculty No 2 group 9) keenly with acting technique declaimed the poetries by L. Kostenko, Ye. Malaniuk and V. Baranov. The dramatic moment of the event was the representation of tragic pages of our history, related to linguicide. The girls, who had the lights and plates with fatal for Ukrainian language years, one by one telling the categorical verdicts, came to the stage.

The festal evening reminded all present that the invention of writing is, say the least of, the second important invention of the humankind after language, as a human received the possibility to transfer its experience to the coming generation. The students with their active participation, creative actors' technique, initiative in organization and performance of the holiday persuasively proved that a Word really unites everyone! No matter what business a human was engaged, it is a creative personality, and this creativity helps to live and to create. Ukrainian language is not just a way of communication but our historical memory; it is an inexhaustible spiritual and cultural treasury, a living connection between the past and the present of our people. The language always united the people, acting as a nation making factor under conditions of absence of own great power statehood.

And you should grown and never fade,

Flower in poems and poetries,

As you have the tender and dreamy soul

of the great people.
